If the unit lacks a centralized pressure reducing valve, an individual PRV is essential to regulate the high pressure delivered to the unit, protecting internal plumbing and appliances.
Older Apartment Blocks with Common Meters (Avg. 6 – 12 apartments on the block): For apartments running off a single, common water meter, individual units often have a separate 20mm copper water supply line running externally with its own individual shut-off valve. In this scenario, we would install an individual PRV on the exposed supply line in an accessible location for that apartment, unless a compliant pressure reducing valve is already installed on the common water meter assembly for the entire building.
